In the vibrant community of National City, a new haven for coffee, beer and burgers has emerged—Friends of Friends. Founded by the visionary collaboration of Aaron Henderson and Marco Laguna, this restaurant and gathering space promises more than just a culinary experience. It’s a melting pot of cultures, an educational hub and a space curated for the community. Friends of Friends, with its roots deeply embedded in the cultural tapestry of National City, sought to create an inviting space that goes beyond the ordinary. Henderson and Laguna opened Friends of Friends as a way for people in the community to unite through a shared love for coffee, beer and flavorful burgers. When Kevin Guerrero of Glacier connected with Friends of Friends, it was a no-brainer for our team to help out on this project. Kevin facilitated the installation of an 8 Metro H tower and a stunning new platform drip tray, seamlessly covering old holes from a previous setup. The Glacier team collaborated closely with the owner, ensuring that 8 lines of cold perfection can flow through the system. A separate glass rinser complements the owner’s vision for the new draft system. Our favorite part of the updated beer system at Friends of Friends is the Sun Line Platform tray. It has a very distinctive look on the trivet that is not like most of the normal trays you’ll find at bars. Kevin and the owner worked in tandem to design a draft system that not only meets operational needs but also enhances the ambiance of the space. In the spirit of friendship and collaboration, Glacier Design Systems and Friends of Friends have crafted a newly updated, high-performing draft system—a perfect example of how a well-designed draft system can elevate the overall experience of a space. Sometimes, in the world of hospitality, we all need a good friend of a friend. In this case, the Glacier team proved to be just that.
